Highest efficiency in noise insulation is offered by soil-based structures. These hot-dip galvanised steel structures are freestanding, self-supporting steel modules filled with soil and aggregate. They are the most effective noise insulation system against direct spread of noise. The load-bearing components are set upon a specially-prepared base, and fixed together by bolts and ties. The fixed steel frame is filled on the inside with mats, and covered with soil and aggregate. The coverage soil may originate from the construction site.
